Sõbrapäevaks / For Valentine’s Day

Head sõbrapäeva! Saadan palju virtuaalseid kallistusi igaühe poole teist!

Uskuge, see on tegelikult päris raske.

Happy Valentine’s day! Sending lots of virtual hugs to every single one of you! It is a little strange that of a long year there is only one day that is supposed to be reminding us of good friends. I know that many of my close friends are reading this blog, and I want to remind you that you are extremely dear and important to me and I am truly grateful that you haven’t abandoned me even when the worst events have happened to me. Happy Valentine’s day, my dear ones!

Many thanks again for all the comments and letters – these are very dear to me!

As recent past has brought a lot of sad events, and dark shadows to my life, I try to live in a way that the shadows of my yesterday would not blind my today, I strongly recommend that you also look on your lives this way, since otherwise it is too depressing and sad. I am well aware that this is easier said than done, but it will eventually bring the pursuit of peace of mind.

The biggest compliment on my achievements was given me by a dear friend (whose brother-in-law circled arond with us in Cambodia), and his is very nice girlfriend, in our annual Christmas event with friends. They told me that in spite of the fact that to me the improvements might seem minimum or none at all, they are clearly seen by other people. Especially for those who don’t meet with me every day. Thank you, dear friends! I haven’t heard so beautiful and compelling compliment to my progress before.

“Kindness is the space law,” said Ingrid Peek in her radioshow “Hello, Space”on April 12. You have proven to me very strongly that this law has come from space to the human kind. There is a lot of goodness in you, do not let that go of your senses.

I also came across with a saying that when life throws sour lemon in your way, put your mind to work to take advantage of it, and think about where to find the salt and Tequila. After all the setbacks should not set you down and you shouldn’t begin to radiate the frustration – setbacks can be used to your advantage, even though it is very-very hard. I try to live in such a way, I recommend this approach you too.

I’m not sure if I think so, because I am too tired of this whole situation or some kind of wizdom has come to me considering brain repairment, but more and more I agree with an old saying: “The grass will not grow faster if it is pulled”. However, do not worry – I will not give up trying, but it seems to me that, even though a lot can be done with great exercise, time has to be trusted too. Illustrating this, a principle has been grown into me (thank you, parents) that, which has been started shall be completed, leaving somewhere in the middle is not allowed. As much as I can, I try to act in accordance with this principle in my road to recovery.

You should sometimes remind yourselves a saying that a dear friend of mine wrote next to the last photo in a photo book she gave me as a gift after my accident: “If everything is not well in the end, it means, this is not the end yet.” I guess I’m too much of a simplistic fairy-tale person but I do not think that beautiful fairy-tales can’t have very bad endings very often. One has to push himself through the bad and sad to go towards the beautiful end. One can’t get stuck in bad.

Each following day is different, which is why the quality of acquired skills varies quite a bit – there are days when I could be an anchorperson and the ballerina and the days when nobody understands me and walking and my hand only bring me anguish..

In terms of walking, my biggest mistake currently is the fact that the injured hip and showlder remain rearward (a typical problem for neurologically injured people), which is why they have to be constantly pushed forward. Sounds simple? Believe me, it’s actually pretty hard.

I practiced walking again on the gate-robot and on the level of rehabilitation that I’ve reached, it seems to be more beneficial than in the past. Also, the speech has already been sufficiently developed enough that typically even strangers can chat with me. Only my left hand is determined to recover very slowly, but fortunately, even this is slowly recovering.
